Material can enter the public domain in a variety of ways. The newsreels, archival footage and government/educational films we have researched and archived were donated to the U.S. for public use or produced by the government using tax payer dollars. Therefore, you have the right to use the material with little or no restrictions. This same material is often sold by large stock footage houses at $100 per second! We simply make it easy and affordable for you to claim what is essentially already yours. Top Are There Licensing Fees? No. There are no licensing or royalty fees. You pay only once and use the material as often as you wish in as many projects as you wish. In some rare cases, images of some celebrities or trademarks may need clearance. It is the user's responsibility to obtain proper clearances if needed. We can recommend 3rd party clearance brokers to help you. Most of the contemporary footage in our collections is shot by an award-winning cinematographer and made available to you on a royalty-free buyout basis. Top What If I Only Need a Few Seconds of Footage? We are happy to sell you whatever you need. However, most of our clients enjoy getting more for their money, that's why we typically pre-package footage. But individual newsreels are available for $150 and shots by the second are available for $10 per second with a 10 second minimum. Unfortunately, the color contemporary footage packages can not be broken out by shot. Top Can I Resell the Material? The material can not be resold as stock footage to 3rd parties. However, some buyers pass off the expense of the footage to their client or even "mark up" the costs in their project and thereby actually profiting from the purchase. Top What Formats are Available? The archival material (footage, newsreels and films) is available on DVD-R, Mini DV, Beta SP and FTP download. However, we can transfer material to just about every imaginable format including digital formats for an additional transfer fee. Footage is NTSC but PAL is also available with an additional transfer fee. The contemporary footage packages are delivered on DVD-ROM in NTSC. PAL is available at no additional cost. In some cases archival footage and newsreels can be made available by full-resolution FTP download. Top How Do I order a Demo? In cases where online demos are not available, we may be able to upload a screener upon special request at no charge! For more extensive quantities of footage, you may order a custom screener of any package, newsreel, film or individual shots on DVD-R with time code burn for $35. Custom demos will show you exactly all the material before you purchase. This is a great way to show your client the footage prior to the purchase or to use in creating a pitch or rough cut for your project. Please call or e-mail us to a custom demo. Top How do I place an order? To order a package, simply use our secure online checkout system and pay by credit card or you can order by phone at 301-471-8058. Arrangements can also be made to pay by check or Paypal.
To order custom material (such as a single newsreel, shot or a collection of specific footage that isn't already pre-packaged) or to set up a National Archives research session, please call us at 301-471-8058 so we may discuss the details. Top Can I Return the Footage and Get a Refund? Unfortunately, due to the nature of our product, purchases are non-refundable. Time-coded screeners and even online screeners are available so that you can view the footage prior to purchase to make sure it will fit your needs. If the master DVD or tape is defective, we will gladly ship a replacement at no cost. Top Do You Offer Educational and Non-Profit Discounts? Yes. Easy Street Productions is proud to support students, educational institutions and non-profit organizations. We offer a 25% discount on many of our products and services to qualified candidates! Contact us for details on receiving this valuable discount. Top FAQ for our Contemporary "Time Image" Footage Collection Are These Shots Royalty-Free? Yes. Once you purchase the Time Image contemporary footage library you are free to use the shots for as long as you wish royalty-free in broadcast, non-broadcast, and Internet productions. You may not however resell any of the shots to be used as stock footage to any other person or company. Top Why is this Such A Great Deal? Stock footage is a tool that saves the production industry millions of dollars per year, however the prices for stock footage are still out of reach for many video professionals. Traditional stock footage companies can charge $400-500 for one shot for a one time non broadcast use, $700-1,200 for a single broadcast use! Plus you'll have to pay research fees, dubbing costs, and shipping costs. Top Where Do You Get These Shots? We shoot 90% of the material ourselves for exclusive inclusion into the Time Image library. What we can't shoot we buy and license for re-sale to our customers. Top What Is The Quality Like? 90% of the shots in the library where shot on film and mastered to Digital BetaCam for superior quality. We pull the MiniDV dubs from our Digital BetaCam masters. The only exceptions are shots in our Volume 6 News and War volume where the shots where acquired on BetaSP, and our Volume 10 Medicine. However, we choose only the best quality shots for the News library.
This is the $1M transfer suite where the Time Image library is mastered. Top Is the Time Image Collection Available On Tape Or DVD? Time Image is sold mainly on data DVD (DVD-ROM) in NTSC or PAL. Each file is a self-contained full resolution DV QuickTime movie stored on the data DVD. NTSC is 720 x 480, PAL is 720 x 576. The DVDs are fully PC and Mac compatible. Simply copy the shot you wish to use from the Time Image DVD onto your computer's hard drive, then import the shot into your edit program from the hard drive. These DVDs are for computer use only , they do not work in a consumer DVD player. The QuickTime file format works perfectly with Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, Vegas Video, and many others. The Time Image library is also available at higher cost on Beta SP or Digital BetaCam. Top How Does This Product Make Me Money? In addition to the huge savings achieved avoiding the stock houses, you can of course charge your clients for use of the Time Image shots that you place into their productions. Say for example your client needs four shots from the library in their production, you charge them $100 per shot and pocket the $400. Most producers make back their money after just one use. Top What Is the Refund Policy on this Collection? Any defective product is replaced free of charge. Since stock footage can be copied to a hard drive and still used in a production after the masters have been returned, we do not offer cash refunds. We can in most cases provide you with a web movie for a shot that is of particular interest to you for you to view prior to purchasing if the need arises. Top |
